INTRODUCTION
The premise of the LOOKING BACK, MOVING FORWARD exhibit is to offer a community space where people can leave behind, access, or take home as evidence a wide variety of frozen photographic moments from the Republican National Convention that took place in St. Paul, MN in September 2008.

The HERE IS NEW YORK exhibit was subtitled "A Democracy of Photographs" because anyone and everyone who had taken pictures relating to the tragedy was invited to submit their images to the gallery, to be displayed on the walls alongside the work of top photojournalists and other professional photographers.
Photos taken by children with watch cameras, and by police officers and firefighters on the job with pocket digital cameras, appeared alongside images taken by by New York Times photojournalists. More info at www.hereisnewyork.org
Submissions to the LOOKING BACK, MOVING FORWARD exhibit will be accepted through January 2009 to the exhibit close, and medium-resolution images will be permanently archived on the RNC ’08 Report archive project website at www.rnc08report.org.

JANUARY 21ST BENEFIT CONCERT FOR RNC 8 LEGAL FUND FEATURING JUNKYARD EMPIRE AND POCKET OF RESISTANCE
On January 21st, there will be a benefit concert for the RNC 8 Legal Fund, featuring Junkyard Empire and Pocket of Resistance. Both bands have shared the stage with the likes of Boots Riley and the Coup, Eyedea, Ill Chemistry, the New Congress, and Los Nativos.
The event marks Junkyard Empire kicking off the inauguration of its show, LOWERTOWN COMMUNE... a regular Wednesday night hootenanny featuring the Junkyard and special guests.
During the RNC in St. Paul, Junkyard Empire played the Sept 4th "No Peace For the Warmakers" show at the State Capitol, and Pocket of Resistance played the the Block Party in Lowertown.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

- Photographers must submit photographs both as prints for gallery display/sales and via e-mail for media/archiving. If digital submissions are too difficult, “print only” is acceptable.
- Print submissions must be 8 x 10 inches, color or B&W photos, with a white or black border. 8x10s can be made on Kodak editing systems in pharmacies for around $4 each if you take your photos on a CDR. During the size selection process of enlargements, choose "8x10" and hit the Zoom Out button. If you got to the right place, you will see it add a small white border above and below the 8x10. The point of the border is mostly so we get full frame images and have something to attach a clip to...
- Digital submissions can be any size with a minimum 1024 pixel dimensions wide at 72 DPI. Or—as it came out of your camera.
- One copy of your photo/s will be displayed in the Black Dog Café gallery in Lowertown St. Paul (space allowing and at the gallery’s discretion). Please make sure the back of the photo is labeled with your name, phone number, and date and location of image. Sticking on a small white mailing label works.
- Photos will be hung along walls from twine with binder clips, as in the example above right.
- You must submit additional prints if you want to sell your work. Copies of prints will be put on the FOR SALE wall and sold at $25 each, with $5 per sale (20%) going to the RNC 8 Legal Fund and $20 (80%) to the artist. For more information about the RNC 8, see www.rnc8.org.
- If the copies of your exhibited prints look like they are going to sell out, we will try to notify you in order that you can provide the Black Dog gallery with additional copies for sale.
- You are free to opt to not sell your photos.
- For digital submissions, send an e-mail to Nigel Parry or provide a CD that includes copies of the photo/s with extended caption information.
- Caption information requested:
- Title/one-line description of image/s.
- Location, date, and—where possible—approximate time of image/s. This is less relevant for your non-Editorial RNC images.
- A brief caption description of the image/your observations at the time the photo was taken.
- Title/one-line description of image/s.
- Enclose a brief bio with your submissions and include your name, e-mail, phone and website contact details.

"Photojournalism is not a crime". This is the last photo I took on Wednesday night (Day 3 of the RNC) before being arrested.
