Allegheny County prosecutors have dropped charges against a University of Pittsburgh professor and two school newspaper photographers arrested during the Group of 20 economic summit.
The district attorney's office says Vaughn Wallace and Shane Dunlap were working as credentialed journalists and that biology professor Jared Evans hadn't committed a crime. They were charged with failure to disperse and disorderly conduct on Sept. 25.
About 190 people were arrested during the two-day summit. Many were Pitt students, some of whom claimed they were unable to leave when police ordered people to disperse from part of campus.
Preliminary hearings are scheduled Wednesday and Friday for dozens of defendants. Charges have been dropped in a handful of cases.
